Thank you for your donations of $626.00 at SAGE's Cookies and Apple Cider event in the Friendship hall.  This along with the offerings from the concert and the envelopes distribued in the offering made for a total of $1280.00 which was donated to the Jasper Place Health and Wellness Centre

 December 5 - White Gift Sunday 

 75 Gift Bags were taken to Bissell and 75 to Mustard Seed

 Min Min Soe

On behalf of Min Min Soe, we would like to thank everyone who generously donated to the purchase of his computer and software.  He is already utilizing it in taking over the updating of the Burmese Community website.



We have learned that the tradional  way of addressing the Burmese is to repeat their first name, thus Min is now Min Min Soe.

 Min Soe is settling into his new home, and started his English classes last Monday at Norquest College.


 October 6, 2010 - Min Soe (the refugee we cosponsered) HAS ARRIVED Nancy and 8 members of our Committee went to the airport to welcome Min Soe to Canada.  He was accompanied from Vancouver by Dr. Alice Khin.  We were then gracously invited to the Khin home, where Min Soe will be residing, for refreshments, to see where he will be living, and to discuss how our committee can help in the upcoming days, weeks and months.

 Thank you to everyone for your attendance and support.  Ginny gave a wonderful presentation and was very grateful for the $6,146.00 raised.


 March 14, 2010- Outreach service on Refugees


 A group from the Karen Community (Christian Refugees from Burma) attended and provided us with two songs


 Guest Speaker Dr. Alice Khin gave a very informative talk on the situation in Burma and the refugee camps along the Thailand border.

In addition to formal community and global justice work through the SAGE Committee, many St. Albert United Church folk get involved in the work of justice and caring for others through other organizations. Many people connect to "Friendship Force International," a non-profit organization that has as its premise the belief that a world of friends is a world at peace. For more information see   In addition, members of the congregation help seniors through the "Meals on Wheels" program.
