Nurture, Uphold, Encourage: Message for the Last Sunday of Covenants 2011

As part of the celebration of baptism, we pledged to nurture one another in faith, uphold one another in prayer, and encourage one another in God's works. Those promises affirm what it means to be a spiritual community. Equally, the Ruth and Naomi story reminds us of these dynamics as two women of different generations and backgrounds share their lives and look after each other. Like them we're called to mentor one another, listen to each other's needs, encourage each other to find ways to love the neighbour who is on the other side of the world as well as next door.
