STILL 28 more sleeps?!?: Message for First Sunday of Advent 2011

Each year at this time we hear readings about the end times, about divine intervention to clean up the world. For those in affluent societies a message like that seems decidedly un-Christmas-y yet if we live in a situation of hurt and oppression it is the message we long to hear. Advent and Christmas aren't just about Jesus' birth but about the hope he brought into the world and which continues to be live as the church brings his life and mission to birth in the world.
